Travel nursing is in high demand, and it appears that hospitals always need nursing staff. Why did I choose travel nursing? I became a travel nursing to take back my life. I chose travel nursing because I am the author of my direction. Travel nursing gives me the freedom to decide how much money I\’m worth and how many hours I will work a week. I don\’t have to deal with the Bureaucracy of hospital Politics. I am in control of my life, salary, and the length of my vacations. I don\’t have to fight for a position. The pay is great, and you feel appreciated as a travel nurse. If I am unhappy with my current assignment, let say for a short period; two or three months in a not so good position, and it will change without prejudice. I meet new people and establish lifelong friends on every travel nursing assignment; however, if our friendship doesn\’t work out, it\’s ok onto the next state! Yes, depending on your agency, you most likely will receive medical and dental insurance as part of your travel nursing package. However, you need to select a company that offers this benefit or negotiates this in your contract.
Additionally, choosing the right assignment to meet your financial goals and your family goals are equally important. The winter months in the mid-west have extremely cold. Did I say I hate the cold weather? If I didn\’t, you know now! There are great things to do in the midwest, and I love being close to family, but again I hate the weather! Therefore, becoming a travel nurse was a great opportunity to see other parts of the USA and gave me a change of scenery. I select travel nursing jobs in the winter to get out of the cold weather during the winter months. They call people like me \”snowbirds,\” leaving the winter behind to see warm climates. I love it!
